Deus Ex Nihilo

Updated: Nov 28, 2022

I had envisioned fires scorching the earth, reaching to the sky. Perhaps waves engulfing the entirety of our civilization, devouring everything we were. Or maybe inescapable death from the heavens.

And then came you, inserting yourself as distinctively as writing etched in the wood’s grain….

I'd call you torment, but your voice burns too sweet; calming my mind's landscape. I'd name you destruction, but you are the catalyst that makes so many things come alive inside of me. Breaker of hope, yet with you, possibilities stretch into the infinite. Shimmering in perfection; dressed in class. Descending like an angel, yet you'd be recognized as a demon; calamity's perfection.

The heaven I craved, looked not of peace; oh certainly not, my harbinger of woe. This abyss, this hollow echo of hell, may be the closest thing to an infinity worthy and able, of properly holding and depicting your ravaging grace and devouring beauty.
